    Promoted as Autonomous Grant-in-aid institute

    In 1992, U.N.Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre was promoted as Grant-in-aid institute by Government of Gujarat as a public trust vide Government resolution. Status of "Autonomous body" was given and identified as ‘Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre’.

    Re-named as U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre

    In 1996, Donation was given by U. N. Mehta Charitable Trust and institute was shifted to new building. Institute was renamed as U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre (UNMICRC) by the Government of Gujarat.

    Expansion and up-gradation of the Institute

    In 2010, Expansion and up-gradation of the Institute was done and inaugrated by Gujart Chief Minister of that time ‘State of Art’ Infrastructure facilities were added and service capacity of the institute was increased.

    Further expansion of the institute as Phase –II Paediatric Cardiac Hospital Building

    In 2020, further upgration and expansion of the institute was done as Phase - II Pediatric Hosptial Building alongwith Hostel Block & Under Ground Parking. New hospital building was inaugrated virtually by Honerable Prime Mnister of India on 24.10.2020.

    Started Satellite Centre having Cardiac and Neuro Care at GMERS Medical College, Civil Hospital Campus, Gandhinagar

    U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre, Ahmedabad has started its Satellite centre having Cardiac and Neuro Care at GMERS Medical College, Civil Hospital Campus, Gandhinagar was virtually inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

    It will render tertiary cardiac and neuro care treatment to all classes of patients especially poorest of poor patients, of the Gujarat state particularly for Gandhinagar district. The centre is fully equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure and latest medical equipments.

    • Located at GMERS Gandhinagar Civil Hospital (Ground to Third floor of a 600 -bedded hospital).
    • Total bed strength:96 beds.
    • 2 fully equipped high-end modular operation theatres(1 each for Cardiac & Neuro specialties).
    • 1 State-of-the-art highly technical and highly sophisticated Cathlab. 
    • 41 ICU / critical care beds & 19 Step down ICUs for Cardiovascular thoracic surgery.
    • General wards with total 23 beds including Isolation rooms.
    • Specific wing for OPD with large capacity of waiting area
    • Blood collection room/ Phlebotomy room for laboratory investigation in the OPD
    • Pneumatic tube transport system (PTTS)
    • Pathology & Microbiology investigations with latest equipments.
    • Radiological Investigations i.e. digital X-ray and Ultra sonography.
