Mother Milk Bank

  • The MAA AMRUTAM MOTHER MILK BANK initiative was undertaken to address the problem of limited access to safe and quality donor human milk for vulnerable infants admitted to the PICU, NICU, and PCTRR departments of U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre.
  • Our primary objective was to establish a state-of-the-art milk bank that would ensure a consistent supply of screened donor human milk, improving the nutrition and health outcomes of these infants.
  • To achieve this, we collaborated closely with healthcare professionals and implemented stringent donor screening processes. Advanced milk processing technologies were also employed to enhance the availability and nutritional value of the donated milk.
  • The MAA AMRUTAM MOTHER MILK BANK initiative demonstrates a remarkable degree of improvement in services, operates on a substantial scale, and showcases sustained impact. It positively influences various stakeholders, including infants, healthcare professionals, and the community, by effectively addressing the critical need for safe donor milk at UNMICRC. Through the promotion of donor milk's importance and the establishment of a reliable system, the initiative significantly improves health outcomes and contributes to the overall well-being of patients.

Infection Control

"The very first requirement in a hospital is that it should do the sick no harm”.

We have Infection prevention &  control department. Infection control is our ultimate goal. To protect our patients & healthcare personnel from infection. Infection control refers to policies and procedures used to minimize the risk of spreading infections, especially in health care facilities. The main focus of the Infection Prevention & Control Department is the prevention, management, promotion of patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections and control of communicable diseases.

Infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting requires a comprehensive, coordinated program designed to prevent and control nosocomial or healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

The Infection Prevention and Control Programme has the following objectives:

  • To minimize the risk of infection to patients, health care workers and visitors.
  • Hand hygiene promotion and monitoring
  • To formulate local guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for prevention and control of infection.
  • To educate and train health care workers.
  • To recommend antimicrobial policy for the hospital and formulate antimicrobial stewardship programme.
  • To ensure implementation and monitoring of the programme.
  • To Conduct outbreak investigations

  • Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Committee(HIPPC)

We have Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Committee(HIPPC). The Committee is an integral component of the patient safety programme of the health care facility, and is responsible for establishing and maintaining infection prevention and control, its monitoring, surveillance, reporting, research and education.

  • Infection Control Team (ICT)

Hospital Infection prevention & control team is comprised of an infection control officer and infection control nurses. ICT takes daily measures for the prevention and control of infection in hospital.
