Dr. Chirag Doshi, the esteemed Director of the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre, is a distinguished professional in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. Under his leadership, the institute, a 1251-bed super-specialty cardiac hospital promoted by the Government of Gujarat, has achieved significant advancements in cardiac care.
Dr. Chirag Doshi is an executive member of the Society of Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery of India, a member of the Indian Society of Heart & Lung Transplant, and a member of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS). With over 23 years of experience, he has performed an extraordinary 20,000 cardiac surgeries, including many complex and high-risk procedures.
His expertise encompasses a wide array of advanced techniques, such as heart transplants, minimally invasive surgeries, robotic cardiac surgeries, complex coronary surgeries, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). Dr. Chirag Doshi’s commitment to innovation and excellence in cardiac surgery sets him apart as a pioneer in the field.
Beyond his surgical prowess, Dr. Chirag Doshi has significantly contributed to the training and mentoring of over 350 cardiac doctors. His role as a speaker and proctor in international cardiac workshops, held in locations such as Singapore, Tokyo, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, highlights his dedication to spreading knowledge and fostering global collaboration. He has trained cardiac professionals from 14 countries in minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
Dr. Chirag Doshi holds the distinction of being the first cardiac surgeon to successfully perform Robotic Cardiac Surgery in the western part of India, with 106 robotic cardiac surgeries conducted at the institute. He also established the first homograft valve bank and a Heart and Lung Transplant Centre in the western part of India, with 24 heart transplants performed at the institute to date.
Actively participating in numerous national and international conferences, Dr. Chirag Doshi continually shares his expertise and advances knowledge in cardiac care. Under his guidance, the CVTS department has become a center of excellence for aortic cardiac surgeries, minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, and complex coronary surgeries.
