The Cardiology Department at UNM was established in 1992 and has rapidly expanded ever since then to ensure that no matter what cardiac symptom or illness is, we have the right doctor for quality care.
As an integrated facility, our cardiology department has a dedicated team of cardiologists and ancillary support staff providing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary state-of-the art care to patients with various heart and vascular diseases. The entire team comprising of physician, nurses, technicians and heart specialists ensures excellent and efficient cardiovascular care and preventive medicine.
Our range of services includes primary and complex coronary angioplasties, stent implantation, device implantation, percutaneous valvular interventions, as well as endovascular aortic repair. As of January 2010, the department offers 24/7 services for the treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction including primary PCI.
Our dedicated electrophysiology team has vast experience in all kinds of electrophysiology studies, radio frequency ablations, pacemaker and device implantations and resynchronization therapy. The Medical Council of India has accorded approval for 18 Post Graduation Seats in D.M. Cardiology.

INTRA AORTIC BALLOON PUMP (IABP) WITH FIBER OPTIC TECHNOLOGY
Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) is used in cardiogenic shock to decrease myocardial Oxygen demand and improve cardiac output.
Advantage: It consists of a cylindrical polyurethane balloon which sits in the aorta and inflates and deflates via counter pulsations.
NITRIC OXIDE DELIVERY SYSTEM
Nitric oxide is a gas that is inhaled. It works by relaxing smooth muscle to widen (dilate) blood vessels, especially in the lungs in conditions causing pulmonary hypertension.
Used in conjunction with ventilation to treat infant respiratory diseases such as Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension (PPHN).
