Abstract / Manuscript Submission Guidelines: PCSI - 2018

The Scientific Committee of PCSI-2018 invites all interested individuals those who want to submit their scientific work in front of leading experts in the field of Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery as well as Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia & Critical care in the form of Oral or Poster presentation or in the Award Session under the following categories:

Award papers (Full Manuscript required)

  • Dr. K.M. Cherian Young Investigator Award
  • Dr. Savitri Srivastav Imaging Award

Free papers (Abstract only)

    A) Award paper (Manuscript preparation - Guideline given)

  • Award paper must be submitted as a Full manuscript with Images & Tables embedded in the text at respective places.
  • Paper not selected for award session will be automatically diverted to free paper session.

    B) Free paper (Abstract submission- Guideline given)

  • Accepted abstract will be selected for either Oral or Poster presentation.

ABSTRACT/ MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION RULES

All abstracts/manuscripts must be submitted online via the PCSI - 2018 website. 
Note: Abstracts/ Manuscripts submitted by fax, email, or post will NOT be accepted. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the
 Organizing Secretary on abstract_pcsi2018@unmicrc.org for special consideration.

ABSTRACT/ MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION DEADLINE

All abstract must be submitted on or before 15th August, 2018. The online submission system will be closed at 24:00, 15th August, 2018. All abstract submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

ABSTRACT/MANUSCRIPT ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION

Abstract authors are required to register as delegates. Failure to register before 15th August, 2018 will result into automatic cancellation of abstract from inclusion in the scientific programme. Notice of acceptance / rejection will be sent via e-mail to the corresponding author on or before 31st August, 2018.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Language
All abstracts must be written exclusively in English (including the title, abstract text, author’s names, affiliations).

Correspondence :
Please provide the following:

  • Write Presenting Author’s name 1st.
  • Presenting author’s contact details; phone number and email address.
  • Name(s) of presenting author and co-authors: first name(s), family name (e.g. Jason Wong).

Structure:

  • Authors’ names must be in upper and lower case (Jason John Wong).
  • Abstract text for original article should include:
    • Aim/Objective(s)
    • Material and method
    • Result(s)
    • Conclusion
  • Word limit: 350 words.
  • Do not include references in the abstract.

Use only standard abbreviations. Special or unusual abbreviations are not recommended. If otherwise necessary, the latter should be placed in parenthesis after the first appearance of the full word, except for unit symbols. Numeral rather than words may be used to indicate numbers.

GUIDELINE FOR MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

  • The manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word (use double-spacing). Word limit: 4000 words.
  • Text and references should follow the American Medical Association’s AMA Manual of Style (10th edition).
  • Arrange the manuscript with the following sections and begin each section on a separate page: (1) title page, (2) abstract, (3) keywords, (4) text, (5) acknowledgments, (6) references, (7) glossary (if needed), (8) tables and table captions (9) figures captions (figures should be embedded in the manuscript).
  • Authors who have a conflict of interest or have received financial support should disclose this support on the title page of the article or on a separate sheet. If no conflict exists, please state that “no conflict of interest is declared.”
  • All pages should be numbered consecutively, beginning with the title page. A page number should be included in the upper-right corner of each page.
  • Abbreviated terms are spelled out at first use and followed with the abbreviation in parentheses. Avoid overuse of contrived abbreviations.
  • Title page: Include (1) the full title of the paper—short, clear, and specific; (2) the authors' full names; (3) the degrees and institutional affiliations of all authors; (4) the names, addresses (including zip codes), e-mail addresses, and phone numbers of all contributing authors.
  • Indicate the author to whom communications should go regarding the manuscript.
  • Abstract: Provide an article summary of 350 words or less.
  • Keywords: Include 3 to 5 keywords.
  • Grant and other acknowledgments: Specify support of any work discussed, by a grant or otherwise, as well as any meeting at which the paper was presented (including place and date).
  • Institutional review board approval is required for any studies involving human or animal subjects.
  • Tables & Figures with legends to be embedded in the manuscript at respective places.
  • References : Double-space references throughout; number them in the sequence in which they appear in the text. References follow the American Medical Association’s AMA Manual of Style.
