State Govt. of Gujarat introduced School Health Programme since 1998-99. Under the programme children studying in Std. 1 to 7 and between the age ground of 5-12 years are examined by the Doctors of the Public Health Section and those children who are suspected having Heart Problems are sent to this Institute for diagnosis and treatment. These children are examined thoroughly by the Expert Cardiologist/Assistant Professor and those who are diagnosed having heart diseases on carrying out requisite investigatory procedure are managed at this Institute and requisite Cardiac procedures/ operations are carried out. The students are given free treatment at the Institution as the State Government of Gujarat is giving grant towards the expenditure incurred by the Institution for treatment of these primary school children.

School Health Programme is a unique programme conducted by the State of Gujarat and which is the only programme of this kind in the country. No other states offer this programme. It has unbelievable effect because school going children are tremendously benefited by this programme. The school going children are given a new life, now they can take education and also have a bright future life due to health policy of state, which was otherwise not possible for them to get.

Since 20th June,2006 , complete Free treatment given to BPL card holders of Gujarat State as per Government decision.

Since 27 th M arc h , 2007 , a free tre atm ent without advance payment is given up to first 12 hours, which is very critical for cardiac problems, any patient who walks in with cardiac complaints.

In this program, any patient admitted to Medical ICCU for a cardiac treatment will be given treatment for initial 12 hours without advance payment for covering First Golden Critical Hour for stabilisation since thrombolytic cardiac treatment is only useful it is if given in 3-4 hours. (First of its kind in Gujarat )
