The
Departments of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery at
the Civil Hospital And B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad
were upgraded as "Institute of Cardiology" for
the purpose of strengthening the services of these Departments
vide Govt. Resolution, H. & F.W.D., No. CHA-1082-1305-J,
Dated 21st April 1982.
The
Institute of Cardiology was converted into "an autonoums
body" as "Institute of Cardiology and Research
Centre" vide G. R., H. & F.W.D., No. CHA-1092-5595-J,
and Dated 20th April 1992.
Under
Govt. Resolution, H. & F.W.D., No. M.C.A.-1091-2455-96-J,
Dated 15th July, 1996 the name of the autonoums Institute
of Cardiology and Research Centre has been changed to "
U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre
" on shifting on the Institute in the Building donated
by "U. N. Mehta Charitable Trust". Since then
the Institute is in the same building.
The
Institute has been registered as a "Society' by the
Assistant Registrar, Societies Registration, Ahmedabad Division
No. GUJ/300 on 17th September 1992. It has also been
registered as a 'Public Trust" by the Deputy Charity
Commissioner, Ahmedabad Region, on 17th June 1992,
vide Registration No. F/2878/ Ahmedabad under Bombay
Public Trust Act, 1950.
